Sony’s Johannes Roberts-directed film reboot Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be releasing on November 24, with the new movie promising to return us to the “terrifying roots” of the original video games, particularly Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2. Coming up next is the Minecraft-esque survival game 7 Days to Die, due later this summer for PS4 and Xbox One. That’s another zombie game we can cross of the list. Umbrella Corps is available as a digital release on PC and PS4 for $29.99. Its ornate interiors won’t even see me coming as I spray and pray my way to victory. Personally, I’m far more eager to get back inside the ever-luxurious Spencer Mansion. The map based on Lanshiang, China, which you might remember from Resident Evil 6, looks alright. The game’s launch trailer has the scoop on the free content we can look forward to in the coming months, including a new game mode called 4 Survivors, where players will battle for survival on more atmospheric variants of Umbrella Corps’ maps in “a free-for-all mode inspired by classic RE games where ammo, health, and decent lighting is in limited supply.” For now, let’s have some fun with it - we can even take turns shooting mercenaries in the face while they’re distracted by the ghouls we sent their way. Will we accept the Resident Evil spin-off they’ve lovingly crafted especially for us, or will we hot potato it back at them? We can figure that out later. Capcom finally pulled the pin on their competitive squad-based shooter Umbrella Corps today, before lobbing it in our general direction so they can watch us try to figure it out, because that’s how they get their kicks.
